Clock Cake
It’s yum o’clock everybody! There is absolutely no better or tastier way to learn how to tell time than this. Bring the kids into the kitchen to make cupcakes and while decorating, have yourselves some clock reading fun!
What you need:
- Quick chocolate cupcakes recipe
- Buttercream icing
- food colouring
- piping bags
- Activity:
- Use our Quick chocolate cupcakes recipe to make your cakes and then decorate them with your favourite coloured Buttercream icing.Starting at the top and working around each of your cupcakes, create a clock face. You can do this with the buttercream icing in an opposite colour to the cake top. If you can't fit every number on the cupcakes, just start with the 3,6,9 and 12.For younger kids, keep it simple and work to the o'clocks. Make a series of cupcakes with different times on each one.Games to play:
- Have a guessing game to see who can guess the time on the cupcakes.
- Line up the cupcakes in order from earliest to latest.
- Mention times of the day like "lunch time" or "dinner time" and see who can point to the cake first.
- Print our worksheet below to see who was paying attention!
